Let It Be
It was my Chemistry exam today,so yesterday I was studying non-stop ,which always makes
me feel down.So it was 12'o clock in the night and I couldn't sleep because I was tense. You know ,these idiotic pyschologist
tricks don't work for me.Counting sheep, taking deep breaths, thinking positively and the rest of the crap.I know,I have tried
them all.So as I said,I couldn't sleep.I put on Abbey Road in my cassete player and suddenly it was all right. The song
was Here Comes The Sun .I felt happy ,as happy as if the exam was over.Happier infact.Specially when Lennon sings
"It's all right".
You know, there is nobody who can take you through such a variety of emotions in 40 minutes like the
Beatles.Sadness, optimism, joy, dissapointment, its all here. The greatest thing is that they changed their sound so much in their
short career as the Beatles. From happy, catchy 60's pop to the dark hues of pyschedelia, they tried to experiment
with every mood possible. The lineup............well 3 very talented songwriters and Ringo Starr who was according to
John Lennon "the greatest rock'n'roll drummer ".Even he could write songs(Octopus's Garden).
I am only going to review the major albums(names written above).I am not going to review the odds
and ends ,Anthologies, compilations(maybe insert a line here and there).
Short introduction?Well, apart from the fact that i like to keep things short and sweet, everybody knows
everything about the Beatles,so i don't need to elaborate.(Who reads what I write anyway?)

Happy,Happy,Happy,Happy! 13 songs,none of them above 3 minutes,each of them | as sweet
as .........really there are no words by which I can describe the catchiness of the songs. The best early Beatles
you will find, the first album to have all original tracks,10 by John Lennon. It starts with uptempo title track
,a signature Beatles tune.Short and Sweet is the Beatles mantra throughout this short album.Pretty much the lovey-dovey stuff
,you know "I love you ',"If this is love you gotta give me me more",love is pretty much the main theme in the whole
album.Very much early 60ish stuff. |
This is Rock'n'roll in its youth! Some songs are not as catchy (When I get home) but the thing sounds so fresh! So innocent, dammit.I
love this album and if you have got any sort of musical sense you will too.(This to the youth of today(of which I am a part) ,reared
on rap with all its senseless profanity.)
Drumming is pretty much the same .Ringo seems to like giving those cymbals a spin. They keep changing the pace ,a fast
one is immediately followed by a sad ,sweet, slow, mellow song. |

More mature than Hard Days Night. The songs are catchy ,melodic,tuneful... I don't really want anything more from
this album. There is some filler material like What Goes On and......well i guess that is it(Ok, Run For Your Life sounds like
a Hard Days Night leftover and I don't dig the opener Baby,You Can Drive My Car)The rest of the songs are glorious.Oh man!I
love the way Lennon does the ssssssssss on Girl ,don't you?
I find this album more fullfilling than Hard Days.... because there is more diversity in the way the songs sound. They are
still short and happy and sad but there is something extra to these songs ...you can see the extra on one of the most celebrated
Beatle tracks ,In My Life,it has a haunting sound, lyrics which in the right frame of mind could easy as easy bring tears to
your eyes and has a haunting piano line in the middle...what a song!! I won't tell anybody other than kids gorging on Backstreet
kids and Westass and N'Sink(the pussy teen girls) and SlipkDonot and Korn-Y and Linkin Pork(the pussy boy brats) to buy this
album 'cause I will assume all the other people have this . Oh,Norwegian Wood sees the first of "George Harrison
on sitar" tracks.(Well its news to me if it isn't ).I needn't tell you that it sounds good,do I? |
