The granddaddy of prog, what, what? And what an album it is too........ I mean this thingy must have raised a storm
,what? Most people were only used to happy, sloppy Hard Days Night type pop ,what?I don't know....how can i..? But
this must have raised a storm... To start off things we have a prog staple, a huge monster called 21st Century Schizoid
Man..which kicks ass all the way to hell(ok, sorry but i am short of ideas so i am sticking to stereotypes).Crap, man,the
vocals have to be heard to be believed.!Of course the horns and hooks and thingies blew me away and still does.... I was
a bit dissapointed after hearing the rest of the songs though but that has changed over time..i love all the songs except
for the 12 minute useless wankfest called Moonchild...why did they think that anybody would like to hear them messing
around in the studio other than themselves? But witty criticisms apart this album is a must hear because firstly all the songs
except for Moonchild are of high quality and secondly ,history has made this an important album so if you are even slightly
interested in progressive rock(I am not slightly interested ..i am hugely interested in prog) you have got to hear this thingy
we got here...
RED A+
- RED (6:20)
- FALLEN ANGEL (6:00)
- ONE MORE RED NIGHTMARE (7:07)
- PROVIDENCE (8:08)
- STARLESS (12:18
The first time i heard this album i fell out of my chair...and after hearing it for the 10000000th
time 10 minutes ago it still made me shiver.. The landscape is not bleak..it is dark and forbidding reminding me of dark
street alleyways and starless nights and of course as can be predicted ...red skies at night Imaginations apart(though
it can form an interesting subject of study) the music on this album is,of course as can be expected from Crimson is complex
and great...an album not only for the ears and brain but for the heart also, when your heart wants to get depressed, that is..this
album is not remotely happy not even One More Red Nightmare which has got clapping in the background but a dark riff section... Among
my favourite albums of all time.....yessir....... Oh,i don't want to say anything about Starless one of the greatest songs
Crimson ever did...(though i haven't heard them all) it will spoil all the fun.... Oh,there is a wankfest to stop the tempo..
and it is called Providence ..so if you are going to download this album avoid it if you wish..though i would say that the
violin stirs up a eerie atmosphere but i am not always for it ,like i always am for the dangerous title track that blasts
you the second it starts.... So there it is....another essential album..one for the ages..if i may say so...
