Hmmm.Better then your run of the mill band of nowadays but as it is it doesn't come up to the old classic standards.Nothing
ever will.Ain't that sad?

Best Songs-The title track,Clocks
Worst Tracks-Amsterdam,Politik .
When talking of the bands of nowadays one tends to say"This doesn't stand up to the classic stuff"and the tendency
among many people is to write of the record before they have heard it.What people have to realise is that that sound
is never going to come back. There will never be another Beatles,Stones,Floyd,Zeppelin. It's time to move on(not to idiotic
pop shit). Not that there is much left to embrace. But we might try the underground .Run like hell from those shitty pop
records though.
This is one of those records that you cannot write off without listening .Coldplay have tried to develop some sort
of style different from the rest of the ratpack.Actually A- is a high for this record but they get some points for trying
to be different.
This album starts on rather a jarring note with Politik which is too noisy and repetitive and too long to be called filler
material.Next is the single In My Place which is a song I would call ok and where you might start getting a feel of the
album.Overall the album has a rather gloomy and mellow feeling to it .It seems as if they were feeling rather sad for no reason
whatsoever. You know, that feeling you get on days when it is raining outside and you can't get down to work and a recent failure
is still rankling within you. You yell at the dogs. You yell at your younger brother. You feel in the blues. The first
time you listen to this record it may sound all the same but you will get accustomed to it.And the tunes and melodies are
rather nice.Nothing inspiring. You won't feel like singing along. You will want to introspect. And on listening in the night
if you feel sleepy ther is a good chance that you will fall asleep.
And their recent album has topped the charts so it is probably crap.Or I am a cynic.
X & Y A
1. Square One
2. What If
3. White Shadows
4. Fix You
5. Talk
6. X&Y
7. Speed of Sound
8. A Message
9. Low
10. The Hardest Part
11. Swallowed In The Sea
12. Twisted Logic
It is NOT crap.I AM a cynic.
Right let's get on.I downloaded the title song from the net and it hit me with the force of a sledgehammer
so I got this album and not ALL of it hit me like the title track and that is good 'cause I would still be listening
to the album and you won't be reading this review. But the melodies, moods, tunes of the album are good and I am afraid that
Coldplay have to be more innovative next time and change their style and mood to bring out an album that is good and not a
repeat of this album or it's predecessors.Because they have come to the height of their style and maybe finished up all their
ideas and I could see glimpses of that on this one itself. For examle they have taken "composition ideas"
for one of the songs from Kraftwerk's "Computer Love".I haven't heard Kraftwerk till date so I can't say whether that
is true or not I was just quoting from the liner notes and most probably it is true(no band is so honest, they only give credit
when they rip somebody blatantly). The album's inside cover is bad but I do not take things like that into account when giving
grades so skip this. The production and all that crap is good, the songs are good. The songs unlike on "A Rush of..." are
not sad sounding and hence sometimes boring but rather sometimes hopeful sometimes uplifting making me think of happy moments, though
the typical sound stays.Coldplay have tried to sound different and succeeded to some extent but the basic ideas, song structures
remain the same. The ones I liked on first listen were the single(obviously singles have been invented for that purpose)Speed
of Sound.,the title track(the best one i reckon, though that might keep changing for me.)and "What if".I won't go describing
each song on here ,partly because i am a lazy fellow who shouldn't have started this thing in the first place and partly because
i have seen that people always skip parts where reviewers go like this -
"The song goes fast tempo with clever string arrangements and the lead guitar being used to good effect. The
drumming is rather impressive as the drummer keeps changing the rhytm and sound of the drums ,sometimes bass sometimes the
cymbals being more pronounced,The additional synths gives the sound of song more backup and the best part is where the cello
comes in.The orchestra sounds rather weak but gains momentum at the 4 minute mark."
I mean to say what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A last word.This is a good buy.
Note-After 2 months
You know ,this shouldn't get the perfect rating because though it is good sounding and all that it doesn't
remain that interesting, specially the second part of the second side. That's why I am lowering the rating to A.
