Oho....what do we have here? An early instrumental rock album of the rock musician Joe Satriani, that is what we
have...and a pretty good one too....at that.. Those of you stay away from Joe Satriani because you have the misconception
that he is another one of your soulless shredder and his albums are just meaningless jams without a head or tail .....stay
away from him no more, stay away no more. You must understand that there are actual songs on here..not jams....Nice uptempo
songs and ballads.Take the example of the title track almost the best song on here....amazingly lucid guitar work which never
fails to grip you as a listener, crushing riffs......the same goes for Crushing Day too......another one of 'em...... Then
we have the ballads......and these ballads have a lot of soul in them.Take Always with me,Always With you for example....a
simple backbeat with a great lead guitar solo all the way through.... The album has a lot of atmosphere too all the way
through..the mood changes are very nice...you are softly sliding into pleasant sleep by the lullaby metioned above when you
get woken up by the abrupt start of Satch Boogie...(great name for the song, btw, nice one Satch!)...... Side 2 is even more
riveting if that's possible..what with pieces like Hill of the Skull which succesfully interject a note of despair
into the proceedings......very good stuff to listen to..... Uhhhh, somebody told me that Satch got the guitar detuned for
bass.....though i don't know what that means having never held a electric guitar in my hands..(I have started learning
the acoustic though..and getting on pretty fast if i may say so.....I need to practise more......rather than downloading free
albums from the net......) A essential album......good addition to any collection, I would say.

Uhhhh..what happened to Joe Satch?I mean i sure don't buy a Joe Satch to listen to The Phone Call or whatever....i buy
his albums to listen to ditties like the title track... Yes,ladies and gentlemen,Satch thought that people might like to
listen to his voice so there are about 6.......yes,6!6! tracks here with him singing some nonsense........and all those tracks
are a complete wash-out, you may take it from me...........maybe Big Bad Moon is good enough sometimes....nice enough riff..at
least it doesn't bore you like Can't Slow Down or something....... Now if we take the instrumentals...now.....what could
be better?Take the mystical Potato Head Groove Thingy now......typical Satch harking back to the Surfing with the Alien and
Not of this Earth Days.... All the rest of the instrumentals are good enough..there are goodish bit of those quiet ones
when he lets the guitar do the talking........ If i might quote a well-known musician.....the advice i would give Satch
would be to shut up and play his guitar..........otherwise he is pretty good........
So,if he had cut out all the vocal tracks this might be getting an A grade but as it is,there you are,you can't have everything.........
